|1997 October||RIKEN Brain Science Institute (BSI) was established.
Three research areas - "Understanding the brain", "Protecting the brain", "Creating the brain" - were featured. The Advanced Technology Development Center facilitated the research and ensured smooth operation.
|2002||Advanced Technology Development Center was re-organized into two organizations, Advanced Technology Development Group and Research Resource Center (RRC).|
|2003||"Nurturing the brain" launched as a new research area.|
|2005 April||Neuroinformatics Japan Center launched.|
|2007 June||RIKEN BSI-OLYMPUS Collaboration Center (BOCC) launched.|
|2007 November||RIKEN BSI-TOYOTA Collaboration Center (BOCC) launched.|
|2008 April||The four research areas and Advanced Technology Development Center were synergized and re-organized into four target-oriented research cores: Mind and Intelligence Research Core, Neural Circuit Function Research Core, Disease Mechanism Research Core, and Advanced Technology Development Core.|
